Beautiful old building, atmospheric being so close to Christmas, contemporary style in the bedrooms, cosy and warm. good breakfast and choice of evening meal at the White Hart restaurant.

Parking is bit of a trek from the hotel rooms.

The buildings are beautiful and room was extremely comfortable, with an excellent en-suite bathroom, 3/4 bed [I was travelling along so had booked a single] flat screen tv, kettle, etc. etc. Sadly I didn't have time to explore the grounds or shop, but hope to do so next time. With breakfast included, at £34 per night this is a real bargain.

The heating in the room was on too high (room 10) and we were unable to adjust this.

Wonderful architecture, setting, gardens. Room very quiet and comfortable. Evening meal at pub on site excellent.

Breakfast was busy and we had a long wait for coffee to arrive and our hot food order to be taken. The porridge did not arrive. One breakfast of poached egg was very small.

the setting is lovely and the main meals are good. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.

The room was not cleaned very well. Noise levels from other residents were high because of poor insulation, even though I had a nice corner room. Breakfasts were unhealthy (tinned fruit, spongy bread, no decent cereal, lumpy porridge). The West Wing is infinitely better than the East Wing. I asked for my original room to be changed because it was as big as a kennel.

The welcome and all the staff were excellent. One receptionist even went to fetch an hot water bottle for my wife from her home, which was very kind.Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The 'white hart' room is stunning and magical, and the food was delicious. The whole campus has a great atmosphere which isn't surprising when you consider the history.

We were surprised that at meal times the waiters/waitresses although keen to bring the food, never cleared any plates on their way back to the kitchen. So the table was full of dirty plates, not particularly nice.

The calm, the ambience. The medieval buildings, the beautiful grounds and landscaping. The younger members of staff were charming and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We'd been booked into a room with a disabled toilet meaning I had to shave while kneeling on the floor to see in the mirror. My partner is small and her legs dangled while sitting on the wc. The "wet room" shower simply meant that the floor became flooded each time it was used. There was no gradient to the plughole at all to help drainage. When we told staff this they were obliging and efficient in moving us to a more suitable room.

I grew up at Dartington. It was a happy and idyllic childhood. It retains much of this but there's a feeling that the spirit and vision of the Elmhirsts is - inevitably I suppose - fading fast. The system of allocating rooms needs improvement; why were we allocated the room with a disabled bathroom?

The 14th Century Abbey was an absolute delight and the rooms were surprisingly modern. The restaurant is in the old medieval kitchens with high level oak beam roof, the locally caught fish meal was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff very friendly and helpful, I would recommend looking at activities before you arrive as we missed the open air cinema that evening.

The Hall and grounds were beautiful and peaceful. My room although small was very comfortable and immaculately clean. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The Whaite Hart served an excellent dinner and very reasonable prices and breakfast was also good in grand surroundings. I intend to return for a weekend with my partner.

My only gripe was the Wi-fi is patchy but given it's location that is understandable and it probably did me good to have no access to email for once.

Beautiful peaceful setting, friendly helpful staff.

Two things that I didn't like were, there wasn't a fridge in the room, and also a small thing I know but very important when your wife has long hair was there wasn't a shower cap, so having a shower in the morning and then going to breakfast with soaking wet hair wasn't good, the smallest touches make all the difference.

relaxed atmosphere, enjoyed having the white hart on site.

dissapointed there were no toiletries in the room.

Our room was lovely bed was very comfortable. its lovely to sleep in peace and quiet. The walks are invigorating and the gardens are well kept. Everyone was attentive and the cooked breakfast is a great way to start the day.

There was nothing not to like.
